苦杏仁甙主要存在于苦杏、苦扁桃、桃、油桃(nectarines)、枇杷、李子、苹果、黑樱桃等果仁和叶子中,别名有扁桃甙、苦杏仁甙、苦杏仁苷、维生素B17等。实验表明,苦杏仁苷的化学性质并不活泼,对健康组织影响很少,仅侵犯和破坏癌细胞。苦杏仁苷的活性成分是一种天然产生的氰&化物,是人类的代谢产物,只能在癌细胞中发挥作用,有人认为有控制及预防癌症的作用。
